Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a straight pick-em league?

No. You will have to pick each game against the point spread.

What are point spreads?

A point spread is created by sportsbook operators so that each team playing has an almost even chance of winning the game. The better team playing the game is considered the Favorite. Most importantly, the favorite has to win by more than the point spread for it to be considered a winning bet. Conversely, the Underdog would win the bet if they won the game outright or lost by an amount smaller than the point spread.

Can I change my picks?

You can submit picks as many times as you'd like in any given week. The only caveat to that is that your most recent picks will be used for scoring purposes.

Which games can I pick each week?

Unless the holiday calendar moves the NFL schedule, only games played on Sunday are used in the contest. No Thursday. No Saturday. No Monday.

What's the deadline to submit my picks?

The deadline, unless otherwise noted in an email or elsewhere on the site, will be 11:00 AM MST. Games played in London have their own individual deadline, which will be the time at kickoff. You will still be able to pick other games following the deadline of the London game.

Do I have to resubmit my picks if I make them on the preliminary picksheet?

No. Your picks will be saved for the week regardless of when you make them. However, the point spreads are subject to change after the official picksheet is published.

Why are the point spreads different from when I picked?

Regardless of when you pick, only the point spreads from the official picksheet will be used for scoring purposes.

When is the official picksheet posted?

Every effort is made to publish the official picksheet on Friday around Noon MST.

What is a carryover?

At the beginning of each season, depending on the number of members, the Pick4Admin will decide the total number of winners in a given week that would result in a carryover. For weeks 1 through 17, if there are more than that number of winners, there will be a carryover declared for those members that went 4-0. In such case, the points for that week will be awarded to the carryover member(s) who are 4-0 in the following week, or subseqeunt weeks if necessary.

How are ties factored into scoring?

Ties against the number count as a loss in the weekly contests. For the season contest, they count as ties. The top three are determined by wins and the tiebreaker is win percentage, and ties will be better than losses (think a half point versus zero points).

What is the week 18 tiebreaker?

Only applies if 1) no member is 4-0 Sunday, or 2) more members than the carryover amount are 4-0, or if no member is 4-0, will apply to members with 3 wins. (And so on.) You must estimate the total points scored in the Sunday night game. Closest to the total points wins. (You don't bust if over.) In case 1) above where there is no outright 4-0 winner, members with 3 wins will be determined as the winner(s), unless case 2) above also is relevant, i.e. 7 or more members with 3 wins, at which time, the total points Sunday night game tiebreaker will be used.
